I seem to be arguing with fascists on-line this morning. In more cheerful news, trying to check in on fundamentalist wackos Christian Voice, I get a 404. I haven't looked at their site for a while so I don't know how long this has been like this. Founder and complete membership of CV Stephen Green is supposed to be paying money to the BBC for wasting their, and indeed, the country's time, maybe he's run out of pennies.

Christians plan response to Atheist bus adverts.

A trinity of Christian groups have created their own series of advertisements to run across London buses... The new campaign is organsied by the Christian Party, the Trinitarian Bible Society and the Russian Orthodox Church... In a somewhat cheeky move, the Rev George Hargreaves of the Christian Party has created a bus advert which proclaims: "There definitely is a God. So join the Christian Party and enjoy your life."

Now, I definitely have no problem with this. My one concern is that the Humanists had to put the 'probably' into 'there probably isn't a God' in order to cover themselves from complaints by any fundamentalist wackos that happened to be passing. Will there be any double standard if an atheist complains about the definitive nature of these pro-imaginary being statements? What if we have atheist bus drivers too 'shocked' and 'horrified' to drive buses with those advertisements on?

It's unclear whether the charmless bigots have a position on this yet as they are busy helping to advertise the University of Saint Andrews' amateur performance of Jerry Springer The Opera for them. Isn't that the very spirit of Christian charity?

Atheist Campaign on Tube Train- Third Poster

Atheist Campaign on Tube Train- Third Poster
Originally uploaded by Loz Flowers

An atheist UK bus campaign which uses the slogan "There's probably no God" does not breach the advertising code, a watchdog has ruled.

Yes, the complaints that tedious bankrupt Stephen Green encouraged people to send from charmless bigots HQ, otherwise known as the Christian Voice website, have been turned down, on the grounds they were dumb. I wait to see whether Green will now try to sue the ASA or whether he'll go back to begging in the street for the money to pay the BBC's bill.

After the ridiculous climb-down by Waterstones in the face of of the bankrupt one-man Christian demonstrator Stephen Green, members of the Welsh Assembly have organised a reading of Patrick 'Nicky Wire's brother' Jones for tonight. The charmless bigots, Christian 'No, our membership is bigger than just Stephen Green, sitting in his bedroom, weeping bitter tears at the futility of his life' Voice, are predictably unhappy.

The poems aren't actually much good, they hardly rhyme, they rarely scan or have rhythm, but they possibly have enough profanity and references to female genitalia to get the literati excited. One of them, to which Christians are taking the greatest exception, includes the blasphemous assertion of sex between the poet and someone Jones calls 'mary magdelene' (sic), and Jesus.

Maybe Stephen figures that the best way to pay back the money he owes the BBC for wasting their time is to get a job reviewing poetry on Newsnight Review?

Christian Voice Watch

Stephen Green, the solo Christian protester who masquerades under the name 'Christian Voice', an imaginary coterie of charmless bigots, takes time out of his busy schedule of looking in gutters and down the back of chairs for loose change to pay off his massive legal costs to call for the restoration of the death penalty. Yep, he's one of those Christians that pay more attention to the Old Testament than the New.

'In the Christian understanding, upon which our laws are or should be based, the death penalty was given to mankind for perpetuity under God's covenant with Noah. That covenant was sealed with the sign of the rainbow (Genesis 9:12-13). 'The Bible verse says: "Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed" (Genesis 9:6, AV) and it goes on to explain why: "for in the image of God made He man."

As ever, the strain of making a logical argument proves too much for Green:

'In fact we set the value of a human life even lower. In the sixties, with the abolition of the death penalty in 1965 and the Abortion Act 1967, our politicians took away the death penalty from the guilty, by the state, where it belongs, and imposed it upon the innocent, within the family, where it does not. The result is a society with no compassion for the victims of crime and their families or for the weaker members of society. We see this today in the callous nature of crimes committed by teenagers on each other and in the increasing brutality of Britain.

Yes, we need to get rid of women's access to safe abortion services and bring back the death penalty to make the United Kingdom a less brutal place.

'The death penalty should not be available to judges for all convicted murderers, just for those convicted by overwhelming evidence: that is on the testimony of two or three eye-witnesses, or the equivalent in forensics.

Why do judges need 'two or three eyewitnesses' before Green lets them do what his God is so keen for them to do? And what about soldiers or police marksmen?

It's worth reading to see how Green doesn't really understand the legal system, which possibly explains why he's in the mess he's in at the moment.

'The Governments' proposed 'seriously wronged' defence will not command public confidence, as most people would agree that the commission of adultery is a serious wrong; yet that is to be specifically excluded.

As I understand it, should someone kill their partner due to discovering they were being adulterous, they will not be able to use the 'seriously wronged' defense to get a lesser charge. So this would be a good thing.

However, it would be right to abolish the defence of diminished responsibility - no-one has the right to diminish another's responsibility.

A plea of 'diminished responsibility' is usually used by someone pleading guilty in the hopes of receiving a less severe sentence. I've never heard of someone diminishing another's responsibility and would love to hear Green's explanation for this.

It all just shows how wrong we can get it when man presumes to make laws which should be made by Almighty God.'

Hmmm, sounds like this Jehova chappy should be arrested and prosecuted for Incitement if you ask me.

Bwahahahahaha!

Previously.

Stephen Green, sole creator of the unpopular soap opera consisting purely of charmless bigots Christian Voice, let's us know how things are going for him at the moment:

BBC GO FOR POUND OF FLESH OVER SPRINGER COSTS.

So, that suggestion that they should pay for his decision to take them to court didn't work then?

The BBC have just sent a bailiff to serve a statutory demand on Christian activist Stephen Green in respect of Mark Thompson's costs of £55,000 in the Jerry Springer the Opera case.

The demand could see Green made bankrupt and homeless.

The High Court ruled last December that Stephen Green could not prosecute Mark Thompson, the Director General of the BBC, and Jonathan Thoday of Avalon over the BBC2 broadcast of Jerry Springer the Opera and its subsequent theatre tour. The Court ordered costs against him.

Mark Thompson and Jonathan Thoday were awarded costs totalling £90,000 against Green, who is the National Director of the prayer and lobby group Christian Voice. The BBC's solicitors were awarded £55,000 and Olswangs Solicitors, who acted for Thoday, got an order for £35,000.

Still, there is a bright-side:

The costs order is better than it could have been; the BBC originally demanded almost £78,000 after instructing David Pannick QC, probably the most expensive barrister they could find, while Thoday wanted over £58,000.

Last month, Stephen Green wrote to both Mark Thompson and Jonathan Thoday inviting them to waive their costs in the interests of goodwill and justice. The appeal to the better nature of Thompson has fallen on deaf ears.

Funny that. It's almost as though they were angry at having their reputations, and that of the businesses they worked for, being impugned by one hubristic runner-up from a Master lookalike contest.

It should be enough for Mark Thompson and Jonathan Thoday that they got away with blasphemy, insulting God and the Lord Jesus Christ, at least in this life. For these rich, powerful men to pursue me into the bankruptcy courts over money I don't have would be vindictive.'

Both sets of solicitors have also threatened to chase the donors who gave the money for the original action, but it is far from clear that a court would allow that. Even if it did, Green is adamant that he will protect the donors' identity, even if that puts him in contempt of court.

'I should go to prison rather than reveal their names, even if I could remember who they were,' he told both Thompson and Thoday.

In hilarious news, after losing his court case Stephen Green, founder and sole member of charmless bigots Christian Voice, faces declaring bankruptcy in the face of court awarded damages against him. Of course, this sort of thing is never nice to happen to anyone, but then on the other hand Green is a deeply, deeply unpleasant individual.

He's basically arguing that because the BBC and Avalon are so rich they should let him off this money, right after they wasted money defending themselves against his ridiculous time and money-wasting prosecutions in court.

'It should be enough for Mark Thompson and Jonathan Thoday that they got away with blasphemy, insulting God and the Lord Jesus Christ, at least in this life. For these rich, powerful men to pursue me into the bankruptcy courts over money I don't have would be vindictive.'

He links to a petition asking those who have lost money due to the actions of Stephen Green to let him off paying them, there's a second petition calling on the BBC and Avalon to insist on receiving the money in full. The 'please pay' petition has about three hundred more votes so far but the bulk of them seem to be people insulting Stephen.

I wonder if Stephen Green will be picketing Pride this year? If he does, perhaps people could help him out by tossing any coppers they have his way?

It seems that charmless bigots Christian Voice is going to try something which he hasn't done before, an act of public service. Stephen Green writes

The prospect of the BBC auditioning pop hopefuls in front of Andrew Lloyd Webber for the role of Jesus has led a Christian group to promise Jerry Springer the Opera-style protests and evangelism if the project goes ahead.

So, a lot of sound and fury that signifies nothing and achieves nothing except several pointless years in court?

Christian Voice said tonight that they might even try to get young Christians into the audition room itself to share the Gospel of the real Jesus Christ with Lord Lloyd-Webber himself.

Presumably they'll also be telling Graham Norton and John Barrowman that they'll be going to hell as well?

Christian Voice Incitement-to-Violence Watch

On the 6th of March Stephen Green, head/sole member of charmless bigots Christian Voice, wrote on his website, in relation to the Government getting rid of the Blasphemy Laws:

'I believe that one way or another, and by God's grace, there isn't going to be blasphemy in this United Kingdom. It is a pity that it will probably have to be stopped in many cases without recourse to the law, but obviously the Lord is calling Christians to stand up for His holiness in other ways in these God-defying days.'

Friday, March 07, 2008

Poor old Stephen Green, head/sole member of charmless bigots Christian Voice. He's not having a great time of things at the moment. First, The Law Lords have ruled that his spat with the BBC and producers of Jerry Springer: The Opera has indeed reached it's end.

The decision of the House of Lords, in conceding that there was a point of law at issue - that of whether theatres and broadcasters have a legal loophole to blaspheme - but declining to hear it on a pretext, brings the Jerry Springer the Opera case to an end. It means there is no redress in British law against those who portrayed Jesus Christ on stage and on the BBC as an infantile coprophiliac, told by the character of Jerry Springer in the show to 'Grow up for Christ's sake and put some f***ing clothes on.' Apparently Jesus Christ, Mary the mother of the Lord and Almighty God may now be ridiculed and insulted on stage and by broadcasters free from the sanctions of the law.

Stephen Green said, 'Contrary to the finding of these Law Lords, it is indeed a matter of great general public importance at this very time that the Almighty Creator of the universe and the Saviour of mankind have been insulted and vilified in this United Kingdom. It brings down the judgment of God on us all. I love my neighbour and I do not want that to happen.

'Christians will now have to take matters into their own hands when Christ is insulted on stage and on screen. As it happens, our campaign against the theatre tour of Jerry Springer the Opera was highly successful, by the grace of God. The producers and theatres lost a fortune and Stewart Lee himself said it was 'ruined'. Blasphemy isn't going to happen on stage in the United Kingdom, it's just that unless and until this loophole is closed, Christians will have to find avenues other than those of the law.

Notice that? If Stephen Green had dark skin then surely the Plod would be feeling his collar and he might expect a visit to Camp X-Ray, seeing as we have a barely coded incitement to violence right there in the third paragraph.

Unfortunately it gets worse for the Christian extremist hate-peddler as, in an as-yet unreported move, the UK blasphemy laws are taken round behind the shed and humanely put down. The National Secular Society celebrate, though the Government will still be trying to bring in the Incitement to Religious Hatred Bill which will do much the same thing. Still, anything that pisses off Stephen Green is a good thing.

Update on the Christian Voice in court story from last month, the charmless bigots have lost their case, The Times reports judges at the High Court ruled that the Theatres Act 1968 prevents any prosecution for blasphemy over public performances of plays, and the Broadcasting Act 1990 prevents any prosecution in relation to broadcasts while Beeb DG Mark Thompson writes in the Telegraph, the first comment on which is from someone called David who says Let's be honest - the BBC is and has been since about the 1930s a socialist/communist front organisation. Unless one is from the ghastly Guardian degenerates then do not apply for a job. It is thus hardly surprising that the disgusting BBC puts out filth and blasphemous programmes. However it is worrying that the legal profession is also tainted with the same sort of hatred of all that is decent in what is left of England. I'm surprised he didn't manage to fit a slam on gays in there too. Anyway, Stephen Green has already said on the Bigot's website that he will be appealing this decision.

I have heard the line that Jerry Springer the Opera was a satire on intrusive and exploitative TV before. The BBC are repeating it in a somewhat self-serving press release this morning.

Are you there pot? It's me, kettle.

Aaaaah, Christians, you've got to love 'em. Turn the other cheek? Judge not lest ye be judged? Anyway, charmless bigots Christian Voice, consisting of sole member and professional timewaster Stephen Green, is at the High Court today asking for the right to give more free publicity to Stewart Lee's not really that good opera of a few years ago, Jerry Springer-The Opera. Mr Green thinks it's terrible that Stewart Lee has moved on to other things and wants to prosecute him, his dog and all the kids that picked on Mr Green at school for being a weirdo, for blasphemy, an outdated stain on our legal system not used since Mary Whitehouse prosecuted Gay News for printing this poem. If Mr Green did get his day in court it might prove more fun than the Diana inquest, you can imagine the scene:

Prosecuting Counsel: And then the chorus shouts "What the fuck, what the fuck, what the fucking fucking fuck" your honour.

From The Times report:

Michael Gledhill, QC, appearing for Mr Green, said... it was not being argued that "God cannot be criticised... This is not just about protecting the rights of a section of the Christian population. It is about protecting the constitution of the nation which is built on the Christian faith."

Yes, Mr Green is claiming that Jerry Springer: The Opera is an act of terrorism against the United Kingdom.

At the moment the Christian Voice website is concentrating on how vaccination is a Government plot to let four-year-olds have promiscuous sex. A DVD of Jerry Springer The Opera is available and would make a lovely Christmas present.

Stephen Green, head and, it would seem, sole member of charmless bigots Christian Voice, posted his review of his day picketing Brighton Pride last month. It's very amusing.

'Shame on you', chanted an overweight man, You bitch! clutching his 'boyfriend's' hand, seemingly unaware of the paradox of accusing others of shame while foaming out his own shame (Jude 1:13)

...What were the National Front doing turning up half-way down the parade? Homosexuals are not black or Asian as a rule, they are overwhelmingly white, and therefore totally scrumptious from a National Front point of view... Funny how the NF have just picked up on the idea of protesting at gay pride events, three years after we started in London 2005. Could it be that some homosexual in the NF has worked out that their presence could devalue ours? No, they aren't that bright, surely? But just maybe the spirit of homosexuality is still as inseparable from national socialism as it was when the Nazi Party began its obscene life in a Munich gay bar.

I doubt there's anyone still under any illusions about the charmless bigots and their hatred of humanity, if not then check this press release out, in which Stephen Green imagines what he thinks little girls are made of, then accuses those who are trying to stop girls in the real world from a lifetime of suffering and distress if they make bad choices when they are young of turning them in to tarts.

Biblical perfume [via Andrew Sullivan]. Yes, if you're a woman and so naturally unclean and an offence in the sight of our Lord, then you too can use the 'Spiritual fragrance' that 'mimics [the] spiritual process', whatever that means. What Would Mary Smell Like?

This guy introduces me to a new concept, the next step up from 'religious people' is apparently 'the Saved'. If Faith is of the Heart and is created by Love, it seems odd that those that would profess to have the strongest Faith talk a lot more about what they Hate instead. The Saved are chosen by God and there's nothing anyone on earth can do to become one of them, a position that makes Pat Robertson seem like some kind of tambourine-shaking bearded hippy.

Stephen Green will be happy, as he managed to succeed in Wales where he failed in Brighton and get arrested for spreading the creed of the charmless bigots or, as they misleadingly call it, 'the will of God'.

Let's hope he spent his time wisely, like asking God to help us in the Ashes series this Winter as that's probably the only way we'll keep them.

Charmless bigots Christian Voice claim England 'winning' the test series against Pakistan was all thanks to God.

The astonishing result of the fourth and final Test Match between England and Pakistan came after an extraordinary prayer from the leader of a prominent Christian group (i.e. Stephen Green, committing the sin of Pride on behalf of Christian Voice) that God would 'judge' the Pakistan team for their attempt to promote Islam during the Test series. During the first Test Match, much was made of the communal Islamic faith of the Pakistan team... The National Director of Christian Voice, prayed that God would judge the Pakistan team for their promotion of Islam in this Christian nation. Incredibly, Pakistan lost the second Test by an innings and promptly lost the Third as well.
