Metal detectors to catch people carrying knives will be used by British Transport Police countrywide. Fine, but this is obviously thinendofthewedgetopia. In a few years you'll have to show your ID Card to travel anywhere and have a full body and cavity search at the start and end of each journey. And probably the police will have the right to come in to whatever private dwelling you're visiting and give you another probing without any justification as well.
