Went up the road to get a renewal on my monthly bus pass which I need to get to work, only to find that the single zone card which I'd always got in the past was gone and I had to buy a zone 1234 card, about £8 more expensive. When I got home I went to the Transport for London site to find this was all one of Mayor Ken's initiatives for getting people to use public transport across London. He says that he's making the bus pass valid across the entire London network, he doesn't mention about how he's got rid of the zone specific pass so that people who only need to travel in one zone have to pay more for a bus pass that they don't really need (I sure aren't going to use buses to get in to Central London from here). I don't see how this is advantageous to anyone. I bought the ticket but in future I'll probably have to buy tickets as I get on the buses as that should come to about £32 a month, not the £36.50 I now have to pay for a pass.
