Student debt to be written off after 25 years. If the Government is willing to wipe out debts after twenty-five years, why wait? Why not cancel them immediately? Isn't the issue here not really about concessions to make higher education fairer for the worst-off, but concessions which are going to be the problem of Blair's political grandchildren in twenty-five years time to deal with for the short-term benefit of saving Blair an embarrasment this year?
