Series Three of Enterprise has started on Sky One. Not much of an improvement on the last two series, still only half the characters are allowed to have one personality trait, T'Pol has different colour uniforms to wear which are still just as tight and everything is so damned nice. The whole Star Trek franchise has been suffering from the law of diminishing returns since TNG. The problem is that the program doesn't want to offend anyone. I wouldn't mind if it swung to some right-wing celebration of the military as Earth seeks revenge for a devastating alien attack just so long as it stopped trying to hover unconvincingly in the middle-ground. We have Chief Engineer Tucker, who's a small-minded bigoted good old boy, but he's not that bad really. There's Lieutenant Reed who's English, so therefore emotionally repressed, who tends to think that weapons are the solution to anything, but he's not that bad really. And they're the human characters with the most personality. As long as the creative team are too afraid that if they write something that might offend people they'll drive their audience away, they'll drive their audience away because the audience doesn't like timidity either.
