An Illinois man begins a 15-month jail sentence on Tuesday - for misleading dieters into buying doughnuts. He repackaged them as 'diet doughnuts' when they were nothing of the sort. What caught my eye was this sentence:
Ligon was caught when suspicious customers complained to the Food and Drug Administration about how tasty his products were.
Which makes me wonder, do people still believe that 'diet' food won't taste as good as the real thing? Meanwhile I haven't had any fizzy drinks for a week now, I'm busy trying to find out what to look for in 'fruit juices' so I can tell which ones are as bad as fizzy drinks (apparently Oasis, which is made by Coca-Cola, is pretty bad). This weekend I'm going to go for a long walk, round central London if it's dry, round the V&A if it's wet. I've scoffed far too many sweets and mince pies this Christmas. Go to try and undo the damage before my body gets too accustomed to the excess poundage in all the wrong places.
