George W. Bush, Chicken Hawk to Chicken Dove? This report from the Guardian suggests that in the remaining space of his first term Dubya is being more concilliatory towards Axis of Evil states in the hopes that, come the election, he can make some claim towards making America safer (despite having supposedly defeated two rogue nations already). I don't know if he'll want to take this that far, after all Churchill's reward for leading this country to victory in the Second World War was to be kicked out of office in peacetime and Bush needs the United States to feel scared to divert away from his lack of capability in other areas. If the carrot approach lasts until election day, expect it's sudden disappearance should Dubya win a second term.
