Next-gen bar code could tag 'every grain of rice'. But why would they want to classify all that rice? Hopefully they won't use '6' as the dividers on this barcode, at least then we can stop all those tiresome Bible-freaks from going on about how Revelations predicted barcodes which are the work of Santa...
With the addition of radio-tagging it would apparently be a boon to stop stealing, though the proponants of this seem to be cagey on details. But though it would be technically possible, would such tracking be feasible? My business studies is rather limited but I thought a lot of companies factor in things like theft because it's cheaper than to go to the effort of bringing the perpetrator to justice, radio tracking equipment is yet to be bioengineered to grow on trees.
