How odd. I've just gone back into Blogger and was in some complete strangers space. Some blog called 'mindless rant'. The gremlins are obviously at play at Stately Blogger Mansion. Anyway, the police are apparently in favour of ID cards now. It's another step on the road to milk and honey but at no point does Sir John Stevens worry himself to explain how it does all the supercool things he promises it would do.
"The excuse people say is that terrorists and organised criminals get round it. They might do. But in getting round it, it will identify who they are."
Beg pardon? It also seems that Sir John isn't singing from the same hymnsheet as his boss, David Blunkett, who at least in public is saying that ID cards will not need to be carried. But as with all things of value it takes mere days to work out how to make realistic forgeries of anything of value, what basis does Sir John have for this unwaranted belief that this time it'll all be different?
