As birthday presents go I could have done without this one on Sunday. US Government wildly moves goalposts to declare carbon dioxide no longer a pollutant. As they were already pledged to ignore Kyoto and any other greenhouse gases legislation in the world I did wonder at first why the US bothered to do this, then I realised that Bush can now claim to have done the most for the environment by at a stroke massively reducing the pollution the country puts out. The next step will probably be a return to the claims in the first half of the last century that smoking is good for you.
