Christ in a crack-house. Blair seeking to put religion at the centre of Government policy. Is there no American idea he won't steal? I'm not sure if I'm correct, but I think the American Constitution calls for the seperation of Church and State, which Dubya is ignoring. We of course, have no constitution, so Blair doesn't have to ignore anything. However, it's going to set him at odds with people, it's got Christians in there, including Evangelicals, who are surely not going to like any of the few progressive things done. Now I'm not afraid that one chat with a loony and Blair is going to order the raising of the Queer Age of Consent or the recriminalisation of homosexuality, but I wonder what would happen if this board filled with people from various religions (but no atheists or those who might consider themselves in minority religions, Quakers, Pagans etc, it's the typical New Labour thing of making sure there's only involvement from those who can mobilise enough votes to matter at the next General Election) tells him stuff that would be unpopular with the general public, homosexuality being the clearest example.

[Blair] also knows that many of his key officials feel uncomfortable about the central role that God plays in his life. There were furrowed brows of consternation when Blair, asked who he would answer to for the deaths of British soldiers, replied: 'My Maker'.

I'm not concerned with people in positions of power being religious per se, I'm only concerned when they openly admit allegiance to a document that is historically dubious, contains acts that are scientifically impossible and which has caused the deaths of millions of human beings.
